For the sixth consecutive year, Cumberland Crossings is hosting the 149th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Unit for two days of Civil War education and entertainment. The event includes a pig roast.
The reenactment unit will stage events at the senior living community, 1 Longsdorf Way, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1.
Events Saturday will include public visitation in the camp, with the ability to see how Civil War soldiers and their families lived while at war. Arms and drilling information will be available, with activities Saturday ending with a pig roast. Join us as Civil War re-enactors visit Cumberland Crossings to perform, engage and entertain. Learn about Civil War era medicine, the role of chaplains during wartime, arms and drilling manuals, muskets, swords and leathers––and period music.
Sunday will feature an outdoor service at 10:30 a.m. to demonstrate how soldiers worshipped during wartime. The event is free and open to the public, with food available for purchase Saturday, inclusive of the pig roast.
